Eastern's Anna Madeleine Dalberg of Sweden Races to New Track Records

Eastern Connecticut State University student-athlete Anna Madeleine Dalberg '20 is quickly making her name known in the Little East Conference (LEC). The Pitea, Sweden, native has been named the Little East Conference Track Rookie-of-the-Week for the second time in the past three weeks, this time for the week running through Feb. 4. Dalberg majors in Communication.

Dalberg has been a relentless competitor in her first month on the indoor track. After setting the Eastern record for the 60-meter hurdles (9.70) in her first meet at the Plymouth State University Invitational, she shaved 0.18 seconds off her time (down to 9.52) and broke her own record in the event at the Wesleyan University Invitational on Feb. 4.

Dalberg also won the long jump for the second week in a row (recording the third-best distance in program history against a field of 35 competitors) and recorded the 13th-best height for the high jump in Eastern history (4 feet 10.5 inches). Her performance over the past three weeks has already qualified her to compete in the long jump and 60-meter hurdles in the New England Division III meet.

The Little East Conference was established on April 28, 1986, as a single sport league by six public institutions located throughout New England. The LEC member men's and women's basketball teams commenced play in 1986-87 with double round-robin regular season and six-team championship tournament. The Little East Conference has since become a multi-sport league with eight primary members, six affiliate members and 19 championships.
