Eastern's Maggie Lasto of Orange Earns First Rookie Swimmer-of-the-Week Award

2018 Feb 5

Eastern Connecticut State University swimmer Maggie Lasto '21 of Orange was awarded the Little East Conference (LEC) Rookie Swimmer-of-the-Week Award for the week of Jan. 28. This is the first LEC weekly honor of Lasto's career. She now joins her two sisters, Mollee and Megan, who have both won LEC awards this season as well. Lasto is taking the exploratory track in the Arts and Humanities.

On Jan. 27 during a tri-meet at Roger Williams University, Lasto recorded a personal record in the 500-meter freestyle (11:41.96). While the Warriors would go on to lose to Roger Williams 212-71, incurring their first loss of the season, they were victorious over Babson College in the three-team meet. This season marked the fourth time in seven years that the team has recorded only one regular-season loss.

The Little East Conference was established on April 28, 1986 as a single sport league by six public institutions located throughout New England. The LEC member men's and women's basketball teams commenced play in 1986-87 with double round-robin regular season and six-team championship tournament. The Little East Conference has since become a multi-sport league with eight primary members, six affiliate members and 19 championships.
