Eastern's Megan Lasto of Orange Nabs Sixth Swimmer-of-the-Week Award

Eastern Connecticut State University swimmer Megan Lasto '21 of Orange made a big splash in the team's return to the pool. Lasto was awarded the Little East Conference Rookie Swimmer-of-the-Week Award for the week of Jan. 21. It was the sixth time in eight weeks that she won either Swimmer-of-the-Week or Rookie Swimmer-of-the-Week. Lasto's major is Visual Arts.

In the final home meet of the season, Lasto played a major part in a 127-97 victory over the University of Saint Joseph. The freshman phenomenon won all three of her individual events, which included the 200 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 50 butterfly. She also swam the third leg of the 200-medley relay which the Warriors went on to win. In the 50 butterfly, Lasto recorded the fastest time of the season for any Eastern swimmer (28.32 seconds) and swam away with 20 wins over the last 10 events of the year.

The Little East Conference was established on April 28, 1986 as a single sport league by six public institutions located throughout New England. The LEC member men's and women's basketball teams commenced play in 1986-87 with double round-robin regular season and six-team championship tournament. The Little East Conference has since become a multi-sport league with eight primary members, six affiliate members and 19 championships.
