2017 Mar 7

Thirteen Eastern Connecticut State University students recently attended the Region I Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT, where they attended theatre workshops and competed in acting and design competitions. Theatre faculty members Ellen Brodie, J.J. Cobb and Chase Rozelle accompanied the students.

Among the students was Caitlighn Foley '17 of Avon, who majors in Theatre.

Foley received three awards for her lighting design of the Theatre Department's production of "Pedro, The Great Pretender." She was first runner up for the Barbizon Award for Excellence in Lighting Design. As such, she will be invited to attend the National Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Washington, DC, should the first-place winner choose not to attend. Foley also was awarded a Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas Award, which includes a one-week scholarship to the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas this summer. Finally, Foley won the USITT and BMI Design Technologies Meritorious Award. Prizes include free attendance at the United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT) conference and a $500 per diem while there.
