Eastern student Sinque Tavares of West Haven participates in Kennedy Center Theatre Festival

Thirteen Eastern Connecticut State University students recently attended the Region I Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT, where they attended theatre workshops and competed in acting and design competitions. Theatre faculty members Ellen Brodie, J.J. Cobb and Chase Rozelle accompanied the students.

Among the students was Sinque Tavares '17 of West Haven, who majors in Theatre.

Tavares, chosen by KCACTF respondents for his performance in Eastern's "Pedro, The Great Pretender," competed in the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Competition at the festival. Tavares competed in three rounds of the competition as he progressed from the preliminaries to the semi-finals, and, ultimately, to the final round of the competition.
