Isabella Rossi Wins Library Research Award

2017 May 17

Three Eastern Connecticut State University students received Library Research Awards at the conclusion of the 2016-17 academic year. The sixth annual awards program recognizes exemplary research projects that demonstrate the ability to locate, evaluate and apply information from the physical collections and online databases of Eastern's J. Eugene Smith Library.

Among the winners was Isabella Rossi '17 of New Haven who majors in History.

Isabella's research project was titled "The Elite Opulence of the Gilded Age: Creation of an 1876 Style Evening Gown" and her abstract reads: "In this project I researched the fashions of the American Gilded Age and created a historically accurate 1876 evening gown with this information. I also explored the historical context of these fashions and examined how clothing was used by social elites to display status."

A committee of faculty and library staff, led by librarian Janice Wilson, read and selected the award winners based on how well the papers document the effective use of library resources.
