Lacrosse Player Nicholas Biasetti Qualifies for NEILA All-Academic Team

2017 May 30

Two senior lacrosse players from Eastern Connecticut State University qualified for the 2017 NEILA (New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association) Division III Academic All-New England team. They are Nick Fernandes (Fairfield), who plays attack, and Nick Biasetti (Brookfield), who plays midfield.

Biasetti '17, a Sport & Leisure Management major from Brookfield, had 15 goals and eight assists this past spring, recording personal-bests in both categories. Biasetti was a two-year captain, becoming the first solo captain this past spring in the 22-year history of the program. He appeared in all possible 50 matches in his three-year career.

A total of 42 players representing 22 different New England Division III institutions qualified for the team. Qualifiers must have compiled a cumulative 3.00 grade-point average through the spring and must have been a starter or key reserve.

A total of seven Eastern players have earned NEILA All-Academic status since 1999, two also reaching the standard a year ago.

This past spring, Eastern won eight and lost ten overall under third-year head coach Brian Tilley. The Warriors were 4-3 in the Little East Conference, reaching the playoff semifinals.
