Nicole Prasser of Manchester Awarded Competitive Scholarship

2012 May 1

Nicole Prasser '14 of Manchester, CT, was one of approximately 300 Eastern Connecticut State University students receiving ECSU Foundation Competitive Scholarships for the 2012-13 academic year. The total amount of scholarship funds awarded by the ECSU Foundation totaled a record $450,000.

A Pre-Elementary Education major, Prasser was awarded the Stephen A. Kenton Endowed Scholarship.

The ECSU Foundation's competitive scholarship awards are based on merit and, in many cases, unmet financial need. The scholarship process is coordinated by the Office of Institutional Advancement.

According to Kenneth DeLisa, vice president for institutional advancement, "The ECSU Foundation plays an important role in that it often provides financial support to our students for the last critical amount of money they need to continue their goal of obtaining a college degree. Our ability to respond in a positive way with this financial support, often to purchase required books, is possible due to the generosity of our donors and the strong relationship that we have with our students. They know they can reach out to us when they are confronted with financial problems."
