'EARTH2023': Eastern to screen alumni-produced film on climate change

Willimantic, CT (11/14/2023) — Eastern Connecticut State University will present an alumni-produced film about the state of the world's climate on Nov. 17 at 2:15 p.m. in the Science Building auditorium, room 104. Ken Wolslegel '87, a graduate of the environmental earth science program, will present his film "EARTH2023" with accompanying narration.

Wolslegel spent 12 years with various companies in the environmental consulting industry. He then served as senior underwriter of pollution insurance lines at AIG. Now he works as a freelance speaker and presenter on environmental advocacy.

The film answers questions about the future of Earth and its inhabitants. "Every day we read headlines about climate change and the increasing destruction of Earth's environment," Wolslegel writes. "What does the future hold and what can we do about it?"

Keeping away from politics, the producer says the film examines science related to climate change and its impact on humans, biodiversity and the global climate of the future.

The presentation is hosted by Eastern's chapter of the Sigma Gamma Epsilon National Honor Society for the Earth Sciences and the Department of Environmental Earth Science.

"This is the premier EES-hosted event (of the semester)," said EES Professor Dickson Cunningham. "The presentation should appeal to anyone interested in 21st-century earth and environmental science issues and societal impacts."
