Eastern announces spring 2026 music events calendar

The original release had the wrong date for the International Jazz Day Jam Session. It is infact on April 29. Also, this release includes a concert flyer for the Feb. 28 piano gala "Video Game Music."

Willimantic, CT (02/12/2026) — The Department of Music at Eastern Connecticut State University is proud to present its spring 2026 events calendar. This semester presents a full slate of performances, recitals, and lectures by students and faculty.

All performances, unless otherwise noted, are free and open to the public and will take place in venues within the Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC).

Faculty Recital Series: "Satie's Quiet Revolutions: Gnossiennes"
February 20 | 12 p.m. | Proscenium Theater
Professor Okon Hwang will educate the audience on Erik Satie's Gnossiennes, a series of six piano compositions, which she will perform in full.

Student Noon Recital (Colloquium Series)
February 27 | 12 p.m. | FAIC 110
The first Student Noon Recital of the semester. All Student Noon Recitals take place on Fridays at 12 p.m. in FAIC 110.

Piano Gala: "Video Game Music
"February 28 | 2:30 p.m. | Concert Hall
Student and faculty pianists will showcase the expressive and intricate art form of video game music through piano performance.

Student Noon Recital (Colloquium Series)
March 6 | 12 p.m. | FAIC 110
An informal recital featuring varied repertoire by voice and instrumental students.

Faculty Recital Series: "An Afternoon of Brahms"
March 7 | 2:30 p.m. | Concert Hall
Professor Emily Riggs (soprano) and Lecturer David Ballena (piano) will be joined by colleagues David Belles and Eric Ouellette, as well as alumni Austin Stone and Renae St. John, to showcase the works of composer Johannes Brahms.

Faculty Recital: Evan Delaney (guitar)
April 7 | 7:30 p.m. | Concert Hall
Lecturer Evan Delaney presents a faculty guitar recital.

Student Noon Recital (Colloquium Series)
April 10 | 12 p.m. | FAIC 110

An Evening of Scenes from Opera, Operetta, and Musical Theatre
April 10 | 7:30 p.m. | Concert Hall
Voice students perform selections from opera, operetta, and musical theatre.

Student Noon Recital (Colloquium Series)
April 17 | 12 p.m. | FAIC 110

Piano Studio Recital
April 20 | 3 p.m. | Concert Hall
Showcasing the progress and achievements of student pianists.

Colloquium Series Micro-Recital: "MUS 321: Vienna, City of Song"
April 24 | 12 p.m. | Concert Hall
Students from Professor Riggs's course perform compositions from the Viennese Classical Period.

Honors Recital and Award Ceremony
April 26 | 2:30 p.m. | Concert Hall
Celebrating an academic year of achievement by music students, including the presentation of First-Year Merit Awards and music scholarships. A reception will follow.

Concert Chorale and Chamber Singers: "America: Music and Identity"
April 27 | 7:30 p.m. | Concert Hall
Exploring "American" music and identity, this show asks, "Is there such a thing as American music and how can music of the past inspire our future?"

International Jazz Day Jam Session
April 29 | 1 p.m. | Susan Sukman McCray Foyer
As part of the 15th annual International Jazz Day, Eastern's jazz program will present a jam session. Community members are encouraged to bring their instruments and join in.

May 1 | 7:30 p.m. | Concert Hall
Featuring traditional and contemporary repertoire.

Concert Band
May 2 | 7:30 p.m. | Concert Hall
Featuring Eastern students and local community members.

Jazz Combo & Big Band
May 4 | 7:30 p.m. | Concert Hall
Honoring legendary jazz trumpeter Miles Davis in anticipation of his 100th birthday.

Student Chamber Music Recital
May 5 | 7:30 p.m. | Concert Hall
Concluding the Spring 2026 semester.
