Eastern Connecticut State University Education Professor Mark Fabrizi Named Editor-in Chief of Prestigious Journal

Willimantic, CT (04/04/2017) — Mark Fabrizi, assistant professor of education at Eastern Connecticut State University, was recently named editor-in-chief of "The Leaflet," a journal of the New England Association of Teachers of English (NEATE) that is published semi-annually. Fabrizi is also coordinator and chair of the Committee for Admission and Retention in Education at Eastern. NEATE is the regional professional organization affiliated with the National Council on Teacher Education.

Fabrizi worked as a high school English teacher in Connecticut for 18 years - eight of which he spent as a department chair before earning his Ph.D. in Education and joining the Eastern faculty. He works chiefly with prospective secondary teachers and has been a consultant for four years with the National Math + Science Initiative, an organization that works with high school English teachers to improve their advanced placement programs.

Fabrizi recently published an edited collection of scholarly essays titled "Fantasy Literature: Challenging Genres," and is currently working on another book that focuses on horror and dark fantasy. In addition to presenting his work in the United States, Fabrizi has presented his research at academic conferences in Russia, Poland, England and Canada.

According to Fabrizi, "As editor of 'The Leaflet,' I will work hard to ensure the journal continues to be relevant to English educators at all levels - elementary, secondary and higher education," said Fabrizi. "I am proud and honored to be a part of such a professional publication - one with a long tradition that has published such prominent writers as Robert Frost, T.S. Eliot, Louise Rosenblatt and Donald Murray."
