Eastern to host 8 music events in April

Willimantic, CT (04/04/2024) — Eastern Connecticut State University's Department of Performing Arts will host eight music performances in April. All will take place in the Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC), with six in the concert hall and two in the foyer.

On April 13 at 2:30 p.m. in the FAIC foyer, Eastern's opera program will present a 30-minute adaptation of Mozart's "The Magic Flute" opera.

Student pianists will present their select repertoire from this semester at the Piano Studio Recital on April 15 at 3 p.m. in the concert hall.

Outstanding music students will perform solos at the Honors Recital on April 21 at 2:30 p.m. in the concert hall. The recital will be followed by a presentation of the Music Program's First-Year Merit Awards and scholarships before a reception in the foyer.

Eastern's Concert Chorale and Chamber Singers will host a concert in celebration of Earth Day on April 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the concert hall. This concert will require tickets, which can be found here: https://easternct.showare.com/

The Percussion Ensembles Concert will take place April 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the concert hall, featuring works for chamber percussion ensemble and steel band.

On April 29, Eastern's Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo Concert will take place in the foyer at 7:30 p.m., featuring jazz standards interpreted and performed by the 3 O'Clock Jazz Combo and classic big band charts performed by the Jazz Ensemble.

April's performances will conclude with the Student Chamber Music Recital on April 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the concert hall. This recital will highlight works from the First Viennese School in recognition of the music program's upcoming student trip to Vienna, Austria, in May 2024.
