Eastern to host Apple TV+ screening of the 'The Dynasty' followed by bestselling author Q&A

Willimantic, CT (02/20/2024) — Eastern Connecticut State University will host a screening of episode one of the new Apple TV+ documentary "The Dynasty: New England Patriots" on March 5 at 7 p.m. in the Student Center Theatre, followed by a Q&A session with New York Times bestselling author Jeff Benedict '91, who wrote the book the series is based on. The screening is open to the public.

Benedict is an Eastern alumnus who's written other sports bestsellers, including "LeBron" and "Tiger Woods."

"The Dynasty" is a 10-part docuseries covering the 20-year run of the Brady-Belichick-Kraft era of the Patriots and the team's six Super Bowl wins, as well as its internal strife. It includes interviews with then-coach Bill Belichick, owner Robert Kraft, quarterback Tom Brady and other Patriots players, coaches and executives. It also includes interviews with high-profile fans, such as Jon Bon Jovi and Rupert Murdoch.

Benedict is an executive producer of the series, which is produced by Brian Grazer's and Ron Howard's Imagine Documentaries. The series premiered globally on Apple TV+ on Feb. 16. The documentary shows hours of video footage and audio files from the Patriots archives, many never made public before.

Earlier in the day, Benedict will also teach a masterclass at Eastern for filmmaking Professor Brian Day's course "Dramatic Video and Film Production." "It's a thrill for me to return to campus to teach a class on storytelling and to screen an episode of the 10-part docuseries I wrote and produced for Apple TV+," he said. "You just never know where a history degree from Eastern might take you."
