“Don’t feel stuck on one path. It’s ok to try one career and then pivot to something else. Be open to learning new things and find something you enjoy doing.”

“Interactions with students inside and outside of the classroom are the best part of my job. Seeing how students grow over their four years and then hearing what they end up doing after Eastern is very rewarding.”

🎓 We are honored to announce that Connecticut Attorney General William Tong @williamtongct will serve as the Graduate Commencement Speaker and be the inaugural recipient of Eastern’s Distinguished Public Service Award at our 2025 Graduate Commencement Ceremony.

A lifelong public servant and proud Connecticut native, Attorney General Tong has led with courage and compassion throughout his career. As the state’s 25th Attorney General—and the first Asian American elected to statewide office in Connecticut—he has been a national leader in efforts to combat the opioid crisis, protect consumers, fight for civil rights, and hold corporations accountable.

The son of immigrants, AG Tong grew up working in his family’s Chinese restaurant and went on to graduate from Brown University and the University of Chicago Law School. His story reflects the values we celebrate at Eastern: perseverance, purpose, and a deep commitment to the public good.

We are proud to recognize his contributions and welcome him to campus on Saturday, May 17, 2025, in the Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Instructional Center, where he will address our graduate students as they prepare to begin their own lives of service and leadership.

👏 Please join us in congratulating Attorney General Tong!
