Student musicians at Eastern Connecticut State University performed in the Performing Arts Department's academic year-end concert in the Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC) on May 1.

The Eastern Jazz Ensemble recently presented their spring concert in the Concert Hall of Eastern's new Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC).

Several talented dance students in Eastern Connecticut State University's theatre program choreographed and performed original dances for "Dance Here!" The 2015-16 academic year-end showcase featured the vision of eight student choreographers, performed by their dance and theatre classmates.

The most advanced directing students in the Theatre Department at Eastern Connecticut State University presented "Power Plays," a series of student-directed one-act plays, this spring semester. "Power Plays" was the culminating showcase for these graduating seniors.

More than 250 talented students at Eastern Connecticut State University presented research and creative work at the university's second annual CREATE conference this past April. CREATE stands for Celebrating Research Excellence and Artistic Talent at Eastern, and is the university's premier, academic year-end showcase. At the culminating event, students of all majors presented professional posters, live music, dance performances, artwork, photography, documentaries and panel discussions.

A number of talented student musicians and vocalists from Eastern Connecticut State University performed in concerts on April 23 and 24. The collaborative concerts included members of Eastern's Concert Chorale, Chamber Singers, Men's and Women's Choirs, Korean Samul Ensemble, String Trio, Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble.

Earlier in the Spring semester the Music Program at Eastern Connecticut State University presented the first concert held in Eastern's new state-of-the art Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC). The historical concert, comprised of Eastern students, faculty, staff and local community members, was one of the first to combine nearly every vocal and instrumental ensemble, making it a truly collaborative performance.

More than 20 theatre students, faculty and alumni from Eastern Connecticut State University participated in the annual Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) earlier this semester. This year, Region I of the KCACTF was held at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.

More than 90 singers from across the state came to Eastern Connecticut State University on March 5 for the annual student auditions of the Connecticut Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (CT-NATS). Awards were given to the top three singers in each of the eight categories. Six singers from Eastern participated in the auditions.
