For a relatively small campus of 4,400 students, the “Warriors” of Eastern Connecticut State University do a lot. They conduct high-quality research and present in conferences across the country. They perform in stunning theatrical productions and produce award-winning artwork. They compete on championship athletic teams and participate in more than 90 clubs. They broaden their perspectives through internships, studying abroad, and engaging in the wider community.

History Students Study in the Middle East

A group of history students from Eastern Connecticut State University took a week-long global field course (GFC) in the Middle East this March. The students visited sites throughout Israel, Jordan and the West Bank as they learned about the region's various conflicts and histories.

Eastern Alumnus from Middlebury Completes Program at European Academy of Diplomacy

Recent Eastern Connecticut State University graduate Zachary Marotte '14 completed a workshop this summer at the European Academy of Diplomacy in Warsaw, Poland. Along with aspiring diplomats from 14 countries, Marotte spent a week in July at the academy's School of Fundamental Diplomatic Skills -- he was one of two Americans in the program, which included approximately 20 participants between the ages of 20 and 36.

This past May, six Eastern education students traveled to London, England, on a 10-day "global field course" to learn about the British education system. During their stay, students visited six primary, secondary and special needs schools in the diverse, inner-city areas of east London.

This past May, 16 students from Eastern Connecticut State University took a two-week global field course in London and Paris. The course, International Advertising and Public Relations (COM 370), focused on advertising strategies for international consumers within the context of the global market. The trip also included tours of well-known companies and cultural sites.

Eastern Students Write in Florence, Italy

During the summer of 2014, 11 students from Eastern Connecticut State University spent the month of July in Florence, Italy, at an intensive creative writing workshop. With its rich culture and scenic Tuscan views, Florence was chosen as the location for the workshop to inspire students' creative and literary senses as they wrote, critiqued and edited original works of fiction and poetry.

From June 29-July 27, 11 theatre students from Eastern Connecticut State University spent four weeks in London at an intensive program about British theatre. The program provided students a month-long theatre tour that included seminars, workshops, talks, tours and attendance at a number of performances and museums in London and neighboring areas.

In May 2014, 16 Easterm environmental earth science (EES) students took a 12-day field excursion throughout Arizona. The excursion, a three-credit summer course, brought the students to a number of national parks and geological wonders for an up-close look at the region's geology, geomorphology, natural resources, environmental science and Native American heritage.

A number of Eastern Connecticut State University students participated in the Study Abroad program during the fall 2012 semester. Study Abroad allows students to gain cultural insight while living in a host country for a full semester or academic year. Students attend a university in their country, take classes, and earn Eastern credits. Countries that students traveled to range from England to Costa Rica.
