Eastern Connecticut State University's Department of Health and Physical Education held its annual awards ceremony at the end of the spring semester. Students were given awards in recognition of academic excellence at the event.

Eastern Connecticut State University student Erin Conn '14 of Moriches, NY, was recently named the recipient of a Henry Barnard Distinguished Student Award. Conn was one of two Eastern students to receive the award for the 2013-14 academic year.

Twenty-one Eastern Connecticut State Universty students and alumni were among more than 140 presenters at the Third Annual Northeast Regional Undergraduate Research Conference, which took place recently on Eastern's campus. The conference was sponsored by the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC).

This fall, 32 athletes from Eastern Connecticut State University were recognized as members of the Little East Conference All Academic Team.

Two Eastern Connecticut State University students along with an Eastern professor and a local community member were recipients of the 2011 Ella T. Grasso Distinguished Service Awards on March 30 at a ceremony in the J. Eugene Smith Library.

15 Eastern Connecticut State University students receiving awards at the National Association for Campus Activities regional conference in Hartford, CT, on Nov. 17- 19.

A team of Eastern Connecticut State University students have been named winners of the Best Student Documentary Short in the national Broadcast Educators Association Annual Media Festival Awards for 2011. The awards will be presented in Las Vegas in April.

On Nov. 30, more than 250 students participated in a Sustainable Energy Symposium at Eastern Connecticut State University. Students presented their research results using posters, PowerPoint presentations, pamphlets, videos, and, in one case, as a musical performance. Topics ranged from analysis of environmental problems to the use of wind power, energy conservation, and renewable energy to reducing consumption of fossil fuels.
