Eastern annual service expo to spotlight the best of community service

Nearly 800 students gave 13,300 hours this academic year

Willimantic, CT (04/12/2025) — The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) at Eastern Connecticut State University will hold its annual service expo in the Fine Arts Instructional Center Lobby on April 15 from 2-4 p.m. The event will recognize nearly two dozen community service programs spearheaded by Eastern students throughout the 2024-25 academic year.

Students through the CCE volunteered at 23 different sites in the greater Windham area. Over the year, 782 unique volunteers served 13,343 hours in the community for a variety of causes, from supporting local public school children to serving local residents who are fighting addiction.

The event will commence with CCE student leaders presenting posters explaining their service programs with such partners as the Windham Public Schools, Covenant Soup Kitchen, Blue Iris Farm, Project Hope, Douglas Manor, St. Joseph Living Center, Journey House, Windham Recovery Center, and more.

Following the presentations, an awards ceremony will honor the most outstanding student-run programs. Awards include the Service Learning Award, the Outstanding Community event Award, the Presidential Service Award, and more.
