Eastern Opera presents 'Cinderella' - a magical musical adventure for all ages
Willimantic, CT (11/04/2025) — The Music Department and Eastern Opera at Eastern Connecticut State University are proud to present Pauline Viardot's "Cinderella" ("Cendrillon") on Nov. 14 and 16. The whimsical 60-minute opera reimagines the classic fairy tale with humor, heart, and a touch of magic.
This charming production features a new English adaptation by Professor Emily Riggs and musical direction by Professor David Ballena, bringing to life Viardot's witty and tuneful take on the timeless story. Follow Cinderella as she outsmarts her stepfamily, encounters her fairy godmother, and wins the heart of Prince Charming - all set to Viardot's delightful and lyrical score.
"Viardot's 'Cendrillon' is filled with warmth, comedy, and enchanting melodies that will captivate audiences of all ages," said Riggs. "We're thrilled to share this playful and heartfelt interpretation with our community."
