Willimantic, CT (04/15/2024) — Eastern Connecticut State University's 2024 CREATE conference will take place April 19 in the Student Center. This event provides an opportunity for students across disciplines to present research and creative works.

CREATE, which stands for "Celebrating Research and Creative Activity at Eastern," is the University's foremost undergraduate research event. Some 278 students, mentored by 66 faculty, will present at this year's CREATE conference.

Concurrent sessions will run first from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and later from 2 to 3:45 p.m. in the Student Center Theatre and meeting rooms. Poster presentations will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Betty R. Tipton Room.

In addition, 12 students from Newtown High School will present their work as part of the Early STEM Research partnership program. These presentations will take place during the poster session.

On the creative side, a display of new student artwork in the Wood Support Center Gallery will take place from 3 to 3:50 p.m. Performances will take place from 2 to 3:45 p.m. in the Student Center Theatre.

"Presenting at CREATE is a wonderful opportunity for our students to develop effective communication skills, demonstrate their creativity and receive feedback from the wider university community," said Niti Pandey, dean of education and professional studies.

"As a public liberal arts institution focused on undergraduate education, we place a great deal of emphasis on faculty-mentored student research and creative activity," said Emily Todd, dean of arts and sciences. "We take pride in the many opportunities our students have to work directly with faculty on independent projects."
