Eastern to hold Veterans Day ceremony

Command Sergeant Major John S. Carragher to give keynote address

Willimantic, CT (11/08/2022) — Eastern Connecticut State University will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. in the Student Center Lobby. This year's keynote speaker is retired Command Sergeant Major (CSM) John S. Carragher. Carragher is the manager of the Office of Advocacy and Assistance for the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs. He is also the former sommand senior enlisted leader for the Connecticut National Guard.

CSM Carragher enlisted in the Connecticut National Guard in 1982 in the 143d Military Police Company as a military police Soldier. His assignments have included leadership and staff positions at every level of the Connecticut National Guard, from team leader to J-3 sergeant major, culminating with his selection as the state Command senior enlisted leader in April 2012.

Eastern's Veterans Day ceremony will also feature remarks by student Morgan Bolduk '23, a specialist in the Army National Guard; Eastern President Elsa Nunez; and University minister Father Larry LaPointe. A troop of military cadets will give the Presentation of Colors, and the Eastern Concert Chorale will sing the National Anthem.
