Media Advisory: 100 college volunteers set to beautify Willimantic for 'Day of Caring' on Oct. 22
Willimantic, CT (10/20/2022) — Eastern Connecticut State University will host its annual Day of Caring on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at locations throughout Willimantic. The town-wide beautification event will deploy more than 100 student volunteers from Eastern and UConn for community service activities including raking, painting, garden clean up and trash pick up.
Volunteer sites include CliCK Community Kitchen, The Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum, Lauter Park, Windham Textile Museum, Willimantic White Water Park, Willimantic Public Library, Abundant Life Community Church and Windham Middle School. The event will commence at 8:30 a.m. at the clock tower on Eastern's campus with remarks by Phillip Blonski, senior manager of corporate and community engagement with United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut.
The Day of Caring is a collaboration between Eastern's Center for Community Engagement, United Way and the University of Connecticut.
