Eastern's Tom Balcerski brings historical context to current presidential affairs
Willimantic, CT (08/05/2024) — Tom Balcerski is an acclaimed presidential historian at Eastern Connecticut State University whose historical perspective brings context to current presidential politics and affairs. A seasoned media correspondent, Balcerski is available to work with the press and open to radio/TV interviews as the current United States presidential race unfolds.
His expert commentary and nonpartisan analysis have been featured on the Washington Post, CNN, NBC, C-SPAN, the Miami Herald and numerous other outlets, where he's provided valuable insights and recounted historical precedents for developments including:

At Eastern, Balcerski teaches early American history, with research interests spanning U.S. presidents, first ladies, manhood and gender. He is the author of "Bosom Friends: The Intimate World of James Buchanan and William Rufus King" and is a featured historian in the upcoming documentary "Lover of Men: The Untold Story of Abraham Lincoln." He earned his Ph.D. from Cornell University.
