Six student leaders at the Center for Community Engagement (CCE) at Eastern Connecticut State University attended the recent IMPACT Conference on civic engagement for students from colleges around the country.

Eastern Connecticut State University's Campus Activity Board (CAB) again earned various accolades at this year's National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) Providence Conference. The meeting took place Oct. 24-26 at the Rhode Island Convention Center.

The club cheerleading team at Eastern Connecticut State University finished in the top 10 at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) College Nationals this April 6-10 in Daytona Beach, FL. With more than 400 teams competing, the College Nationals is the largest collegiate cheerleading competition in the country.

Eastern Connecticut State University's newly developed Peer Educators Advocating for Campus Empowerment (PEACE) program has spent the fall 2021 semester promoting inclusion and diversity on campus. Founded by the Arthur L. Johnson Unity Wing, the educational program empowers student leaders to influence the campus culture.

Students in the ETV News club at Eastern Connecticut State University are putting their television production skills to the test during the COVID-19 pandemic by producing its weekly newscast remotely from home. With limited resources, club members are continuing to provide special coronavirus coverage to the Eastern community every Thursday night on their YouTube channel, "Eastern CT Television - ETV News."

Twenty members of the Eastern Connecticut State University chapter of Habitat for Humanity slept outdoors in cardboard boxes on Nov. 2-3 for the annual "Shackathon." The event aims to raise awareness of homelessness, as well as raise funds for the club's annual spring break trip.

The event challenged participants to spend a full day outside -- academic schedules permitting -- sleeping in the elements and only eating donated food. The shackathon aims to raise awareness of homelessness and substandard housing.

Four Eastern Connecticut State University Students in the Math Club, along with Peter Johnson, associate professor of mathematics, attended theSpuyten Duyvil Undergraduate Mathematics Conference at Manhattan College in New York City on April 6.

Six Eastern Connecticut State University students in the Environmental Earth Science program attended the Northeastern Section of the Geological Society of America Conference in Bretton Woods, NH, from March 18-20.

One of the approximately 70 student clubs and organizations at Eastern Connecticut State University is Eastern's MALES club. The purpose of the MALES Club is to create programs and activities that will benefit Eastern and its student body. MALES acheives this by supporting the community service projects and other events presented by already-established organizations on campus. MALES intends to improve the image, leadership qualities, and communication skills of the Eastern Connecticut State University man.

Eight Eastern Connecticut State University students traveled to San Diego, CA, with Assistant Professor of Economics Behroz Baraghoshi, in January to participate in the annual Conference of the American Economic Association (AEA). Students attended sessions of their interest and saw how new ideas in those fields were presented. They also were able to ask questions or comment. "The vastness of the subject matter was really apparent, and the numerous lecturers discussing completely different topics were very interesting," said Bailey Wilber, president of the Economics Club and coordinator of the trip. "It opened up a new way of thinking about economics and made me eager to study more."
