Theatre: 'Three Sisters' opens spring theatre March 3-8

Willimantic, CT (02/25/2026) — Eastern Connecticut State University's spring 2026 theatre schedule will open March 3-8 in the Delmonte Bernstein Studio Theater with "Three Sisters," a bittersweet tale of family and homesickness based on Anton Chekhov's classic play.

"Three Sisters" by Sarah Ruhl is an adaptation based on a literal translation by Elise Thoron, with Natasha Paramonova and Kristin Johnsen-Neshati, and directed by Rachel Jett.

The play follows three sisters - schoolteacher Olga, unhappily married Masha, and perfectionist Irina - who have relocated from their native Moscow to a provincial Russian town. They dream of a return to their childhood city, where they imagine opportunities to transform their lives, and grapple with the distance between this dream and their reality.

Showings:

  • March 3, 4, and 6 at 7:30 p.m.
  • March 5 at 5:30 p.m.
