Eastern Connecticut State University

This achievement is awarded to students who have participated in Eastern's academic clubs during the academic year. The student club programs range from social to educational, physical to spiritual, and civic engagement programs that equally affect the Eastern community.

Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) is a national leadership honor society for college men and women. It was founded at Washington and Lee University, Lexington, VA, in 1914. The Eastern Connecticut State University Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa was installed on May 13, 1994. Eastern is the first and only circle in New England. To date, over 700 faculty, students, alumni, and honorary members have been inducted into Eastern's circle.

A group of Eastern history majors were recently inducted into Alpha Mu Alpha, Eastern's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national honor society for the study of history.

Eastern Connecticut State University's annual Athletic Awards Banquet was held at the end of the spring semester. The event recognized the athletic accomplishments of student athletes across all sports and majors.

Eastern Connecticut State University's 20th Annual Accounting Banquet occurred at the end of the spring semester. The event hosted nearly 200 students, alumni, emeriti professors and current faculty for an evening of reflection and recognition of Eastern's Accounting Program.

Eastern Connecticut State University's Economics Department held its annual induction ceremony for Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honor society for economics, at the end of the spring semester. Omicron Delta Epsilon is among the oldest and most prestigious of all academic honor societies, and seeks to recognize those individuals who have distinguished themselves in economic science.

Alpha Beta Gamma, Eastern Connecticut State University's chapter of the national honor society for political science, Pi Sigma Alpha, held its annual induction ceremony at the end of the spring semester. Six students were inducted into the society, which recognizes the most promising students in the discipline.

Eastern Connecticut State University held its 14th Annual Arts and Sciences Research Conference and Exhibition at the end of the spring semester. The event featured oral and visual presentations of student-led scientific research and artwork. More than 50 presentations were delivered by students from a range of academic departments.

Richard Magner, a mathematics major from Beacon Falls, CT, recently received an Honorable Mention from the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation. The Goldwater Scholarship program was designed to foster and encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering. The program recognizes undergraduate students who demonstrate the potential to make significant research contributions in their future careers.

Eastern's chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon (KME), the national honor society for mathematics, recently held its annual induction ceremony. Seventeen students were inducted into the society, joining the more than 80,000 members nationwide from approximately 150 chapters.

The J. Eugene Smith Library at Eastern Connecticut State University offers an undergraduate student library research award competition each year. The prize has been established to recognize and celebrate exemplary student research projects that demonstrate the ability to locate, evaluate, select and apply information from appropriate resources.

Two students are in service as Head Student Orientation Counselors for the upcoming SOAR program at Eastern Connecticut State University. SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising and Registration) is Eastern's premier transitional program for incoming freshmen and transfer students.
