For a relatively small campus of 4,400 students, the “Warriors” of Eastern Connecticut State University do a lot. They conduct high-quality research and present in conferences across the country. They perform in stunning theatrical productions and produce award-winning artwork. They compete on championship athletic teams and participate in more than 90 clubs. They broaden their perspectives through internships, studying abroad, and engaging in the wider community.

Eastern Students Spend Spring Break in Israel, Jordan and the West Bank

This past March, 14 students from Eastern Connecticut State University spent their spring break in Israel, Jordan and the West Bank for a study abroad experience with the History Department. From March 14-22, the students, accompanied by History Professors Caitlin Carenen and David Frye, visited a number of historical sites.

Eastern Students Study British Theatre in London

From June 29-July 27, 11 theatre students from Eastern Connecticut State University spent four weeks in London at an intensive program about British theatre. The program provided students a month-long theatre tour that included seminars, workshops, talks, tours and attendance at a number of performances and museums in London and neighboring areas.

Eastern Students Take Field Excursion Throughout Arizona

In May 2014, 16 Easterm environmental earth science (EES) students took a 12-day field excursion throughout Arizona. The excursion, a three-credit summer course, brought the students to a number of national parks and geological wonders for an up-close look at the region's geology, geomorphology, natural resources, environmental science and Native American heritage.

Eastern Students Volunteer at Day of Giving

Hundreds of members of the Willimantic community visited Eastern Connecticut State University on Nov. 26 for the eighth annual Day of Giving. Despite the day's inclement weather, Eastern's Hurley Hall bustled as usual, serving up hot Thanksgiving meals to community members who otherwise may not have had one. Several Eastern students volunteered to make the large event possible, assisting the staff of Chartwells, Eastern's food services contractor.

This past May, 14 students from Eastern Connecticut State University visited Costa Rica for 12 days to study tropical biology. The trip focused on the basic aspects of tropical rainforest ecology and the natural history of tropical organisms.
