Eastern Connecticut State University's 124th Commencement took place at the XL Center in Hartford on May 13. In all, 65 graduate students and 1,162 undergraduate students earned their degrees.

The Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer team was ranked among the Top 10 in the first NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III New England polls of the 2013 season, released Sept. 4. After the first week of the regular season, the Eastern women opened at No. 8.

Eastern Connecticut State University recently held a five-week summer enrichment camp for local middle school students. The "Puentes al Futuro/Bridges to the Future" camp is run by Eastern's Center for Community Engagement (CCE) and offers academic instruction in math and language arts and cultural enrichment.

The program is currently underway at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville (UTK).

A group of performing arts students from Eastern Connecticut State University recently presented a compilation of short works as part of "Scenes, Songs and Monologues 2013" at The Producers Club in New York City.

Two Digital Art and Design majors recently designed and implemented artwork that is displayed in glass display cases in Eastern's Science Building. The purpose of the art project is to create a visual tour of the academic programs and lab projects that take place within the building. The contributing students developed a concept that highlighted student testimonials of what math and science majors have gained through their academic,research and hands-on learning experiences in the facility.

Connecticut Main Street Center, a statewide nonprofit agency that inspires great Connecticut downtowns, recently announced that "End of an Era: Past Identity/Future Vision" is the recipient of a 2013 Award of Excellence in the Historic Preservation category. the exhibition was the work of Eastern Connecticut State University Visual Arts Professor June Bisantz and History Lecturer Jamie Eves. Winners of this prestigious award actively champion the revitalization and economic development of downtowns across Connecticut through various initiatives including rebuilding or redesigning downtown spaces. Publicity materials for the exhibit were designed by Eastern Connecticut State University visual arts students.
