This semester two Eastern Connecticut State University students are working on a joint research project that explores spacial awareness, dynamic touch and proprioception.

A number of civic-minded students from Eastern Connecticut State University are serving thousands of hours in the community this fall semester as student leaders with Eastern's Center for Community Engagement (CCE). Eastern Connecticut State University student Megan Macomber '21 of South Windsor, is currently engaged in a successful internship with the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters in Hartford. Macomber's Individualized major combines studies in environmental policy, management, politics and economics.

A group of Eastern Connecticut State University students, under the guidance of Professor Christopher Torockio, recently traveled to Italy to participate in the Creative Writing Abroad course. The students spent five weeks, from June 25 to July 31, writing fiction stories inspired by their travels and experiences at the Studio Arts College International (SACI) in Florence.

On May 20, 14 Eastern Connecticut State University Biology students and professors Patricia Szczys and Matthew Graham travelled to Costa Rica to conduct research in the country's tropical forests.

She is one of two Eastern students participating in a 10-week Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) in locales across the country - a program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Kelly Bielonko '18 of Willington is one of two Eastern Connecticut State University students studying under a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant this summer as part of the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Sites program. The Social-Behavioral Research Training in American Indian Community-Based Projects REU provides a 10-week, hands-on research experience and training activities.

Sixteen Eastern Connecticut State University students served as Student Orientation Counselors (SOCs) during this summer's orientation program for incoming students. SOAR -- Student Orientation, Advising and Registration -- is designed to introduce students to life at Eastern and provide academic advising before the start of the fall semester.

In late May 2018, Eastern Connecticut State University students traveled to Ghana, West Africa, with Professor Yaw Nsiah and Lecturer Shelly Gimenez of the Department of Health Sciences. The group was hosted by the Rural Health Project Africa, an NGO involved with enhancing the health of rural Ghanaians.
