Eastern Connecticut State University senior Tarchee Brown of Rockville received the Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week Award for the week of Nov. 19. This is the 10th individual award of Brown's career. Brown's major is Sociology.

Eastern Connecticut State University junior Mollee Lasto '19 of Orange received the Little East Conference (LEC) Swimmer-of-the-Week Award for the week of Nov. 19. This is the fifth individual award of Lasto's career. She is a health sciences major.

Eastern Connecticut State University student Adam Murphy '18, a Political Science and History and Social Science major, recently presented his research project at the New England Historical Association's (NEHA) 99th Annual Fall Conference.

Because of stellar fall 2017 seasons, nine student-athletes from the men's and women's soccer teams at Eastern Connecticut State University were named to all-conference teams for the Little East Conference (LEC). A total of 48 players across the eight-team conference were selected to first and second all-conference teams.

Accompanied by Sociology Professor Nicolas Simon, the Eastern group presented on the topic of engaging first-generation and underserved students in community service.

The talented musicians of Eastern Connecticut State University's Concert Band recently presented a concert in the Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC). The Eastern Concert Band is a unique blend of musicians comprised of Eastern Connecticut State University students, faculty, alumni, local music educators and talented musicians from the greater eastern Connecticut area. Performance repertoire includes classic band literature as well as challenging works from contemporary composers.

The ever-relevant topic of immigration was on dramatic display from Oct. 11-15 when Eastern Connecticut State University premiered "Thread City," a unique performance that "told" stories of the immigrants who came to Willimantic to work in its historic thread mills. The dialogue-free play blended choreographed movement, visual projections and folky-electronic soundscapes to convey a heartfelt and historically representative tale of immigration in America.

The "Phoenix New Play Series" is an annual theatre program at Eastern Connecticut State University that takes a student-written work and adapts it into a student-directed play. On Oct. 21, McKenzie Fayne's "The Life of Dawson Radlaw" was brought to life by fellow student Onyae Randall.

This is her first selection this year, and her third in the last two seasons. Labreque is a Physical Education major.

A group of student researchers from Eastern Connecticut State University recently presented at the annual northeast conference for the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC). From Oct. 13-14, Eastern was one of eight colleges to participate in the symposium, this year located at Mansfield University in Pennsylvania.

Eastern Connecticut State University's field hockey forward, Alex Kallgren, has been selected as the only representative from the LEC to play in the 2017 National Field Hockey Coaches' Association Senior All-Star Game, sponsored by Victory Sports Tours. The three-time All-Little-East-Conference (LEC) forward, from Dudley, MA, has also set the program records for points and goals scored in a career, moving her into second place in terms of assists.

Senior Caleb Eriksen, an outside linebacker/defensive end, has anchored the unit. After an outstanding performance against the University of Hartford, Ericksen was named National Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 1.
