Eastern Connecticut State University's Department of Environmental Earth Science held is annual year-end celebration in the Science Building on May 6. At the event, 13 students were awarded for their work and excellence in the environmental earth science program.

Students in Eastern Connecticut State University's Biology Department presented their independent research projects at the 73rd Annual Eastern Colleges Science Conference (ECSC) on April 6 at Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY.

Eastern Connecticut State University student Demitra Kourtzidis '19 of East Hampton was one of two researchers from Connecticut who presented their projects at the highly selective Posters on the Hill (POH) research conference on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC on April 30. The annual event featured 60 representatives from colleges and universities across the nation.

Eastern Connecticut State University student Italo Bucca '19 of Hartford was the student recipient of the Cesar Chavez Distinguished Service Award on April 24. Among his involvements on campus, Bucca has volunteered with Eastern's Center of Community Engagement, study abroad office, the nonprofit organization Big Brother, Big Sister and Windham Middle School. Bucca majors in General Studies.

The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) at Eastern Connecticut State University hosted its annual Service Expo and Awards on April 18. The event recognized the many service projects and students who have made a commitment to volunteerism in the Windham area, Eastern's home community.

Forty-three students from Eastern Connecticut State University traveled to Georgia on April 11-13 to present original research at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR). The 2019 conference occurred at Kennesaw State University and featured hundreds of undergraduate students from across the country.

The 31st annual Henry Barnard Awards Banquet, held on April 23 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT, recognized 12 outstanding undergraduates from Connecticut's four state universities - Central, Eastern, Southern and Western.

Eastern Connecticut State University held its inaugural Iota Iota Iota (Triota) induction on April 12, launching the Epsilon Gamma Chapter by recognizing student and alumni members. Triota is a national service-based Women's and Gender Studies honor society that promotes academic excellence and facilitates activism.

Eastern Connecticut State University's Finance Program held its year-end banquet on March 26 in the Paul E. Johnson Room of the J. Eugene Smith Library. The event featured remarks by university dignitaries; a keynote address by Eastern alumnus Andrew Simmons '06; presentations by current students as well as representatives of Travelers Insurance; and an awards ceremony.

Five instrumentalists from Eastern Connecticut State University recently performed among the best undergraduate musicians in the Northeast.
