Eastern Students Hold Panel Discussions at CREATE Conference

More than 250 talented students at Eastern Connecticut State University presented research and creative work at the university's second annual CREATE conference this past April. CREATE stands for Celebrating Research Excellence and Artistic Talent at Eastern, and is the university's premier, academic year-end showcase. At the culminating event, students of all majors presented professional posters, live music, dance performances, artwork, photography, documentaries and panel discussions.

Eastern Students Present Research Posters at CREATE Conference

More than 250 talented students at Eastern Connecticut State University presented research and creative work at the university's second annual CREATE conference this past April. CREATE stands for Celebrating Research Excellence and Artistic Talent at Eastern, and is the university's premier, academic year-end showcase. Ten Eastern Connecticut State University students presented at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) in Asheville, NC, from April 7-9.The conference was established in 1987 and is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity in all field of study.

Eastern Student Sierra Colon Wins Scholarship to Intern in Africa

Sierra Colon '17, a political science major at Eastern Connecticut State University, is one of 250 undergraduate students from across the United States selected to receive the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Colon will use the scholarship this summer to intern with the Surplus People Project (SPP), a nonprofit organization in Cape Town, South Africa.

Eastern Connecticut State University Student Sabreena Crouteau Presents Research at Posters on the Hill

Each spring, the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) hosts its annual undergraduate poster session on Capitol Hill. CUR works to ensure that members of Congress have a clear understanding of the research and education programs that they fund. Approximately 60 students out of a pool of 600 applicants from all over the country are selected on a competitive basis to present their research posters to members of Congress and other invited guests. Eastern student Sabreena Croteau '16 was selected to present her research project titled, ""Democratic Elections in the American States: A Case for Reform" at the prestigious event.

Two of Eastern Connecticut State University's top students were named Barnard Scholars on April 6 at the Aqua Turf in Southington, CT. The annual Henry Barnard Distinguished Student Awards recognize 12 outstanding undergraduates from Connecticut's four state universities (Central, Eastern, Southern and Western). Quanece Williams '16 of Bridgeport and Sabreena Croteau '16 of North Kingstown, RI, were Eastern's awardees; both are double majoring in political science and history.

Eastern Students Participate in Award-winning Video

Eastern Connecticut State University's Center for Early Childhood Education (CECE) was recently notified that they have been awarded a bronze "Telly" Award for their video, "Fun Mud Day," featuring the work of Eastern faculty, staff and students. The video was submitted in the Health and Fitness category, and highlights an event that took place at the Child and Family Development Resource Center (CFDRC) last May.
