Eastern Environmental Earth Science students recently participated in summer undergraduate research projects with Professors Drew Hyatt and Peter Drzewiecki.

Nicole Garcia '17 is one of two Eastern Connecticut State University students working at a paid fellowship on campus this summer. During the three-week program, Garcia, a theatre major from Newington, is designing sets for the upcoming production of "Two Gentlemen of Verona."

Eastern Connecticut State University hosted a three-week Summer Arts Institute from July 11 to 28. The program invited rising juniors and seniors from Windham High School and Arts at the Capitol Theatre (ACT) to participate in a college course free of charge, including the opportunity to gain college credit.

Katherine Burgos '17, a biology major from New London, landed a paid summer internship with Pfizer, a global pharmaceutical company based in Groton.

Linh Nguyen '18, a business administration major from East Lyme, landed a paid summer internship with Hubble Incorporated, a global electrical manufacturing company with an office in Shelton.

Troi Branham '18, a business administration and theatre double major from New Haven, landed a paid summer internship with MetLife, a global insurance provider based in Bloomfield.

Eastern Connecticut State University concluded its fifth summer youth program for "Puentes al Futuro" (Bridges to the Future) on July 28. Sixty middle school students from Windham were led by 12 Eastern student leaders over the course of the four-week program. The program is coordinated by Eastern's Center for Community Engagement.

Eastern Connecticut State University graduated its first cohort of students in the Master's Degree in Accounting. Three individuals completed the program and were honored at the commencement ceremony at the XL center in Hartford on May 17th.

More than 12,000 family members and friends filled the XL Center in Hartford on Tuesday, May 17, to cheer on their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, as 1,221 undergraduates and 56 graduate students received their diplomas at Eastern Connecticut State University's 126th Commencement exercises.
