Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its Dean's List for the spring 2024 semester, in which more than 1,200 students were recognized for maintaining high GPAs.

Students of color gathered in the Art Gallery at Eastern Connecticut State University on April 18 to celebrate Intercultural Graduation. Organized by the Intercultural Center on campus, the event recognized the efforts of minority students, who often face systemic barriers before, during and after college.

More than 250 students from Eastern Connecticut State University showcased their academic and creative achievements at Eastern's annual CREATE Conference on April 19. They shared their work with friends, family and faculty. During the conference, two students and one faculty member received awards.

With the largest graduating cohort ever of queer students, the Pride Center at Eastern Connecticut State University recently hosted its seventh Lavender Graduation. President Elsa Nunez and awardees Billi Kozak and Arden Parzych were honored during the ceremony.

Undergraduate students, staff and faculty from the Northeast traveled to The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY, for the Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges Northeast Region (CCSCNE) on April 12-13. Among them was mathematics major Carter Kelly from Eastern Connecticut State University.

Nine students from Eastern Connecticut State University presented research projects at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) this April in Long Beach, CA. NCUR provides collegiate scholars across the country with an opportunity to showcase their creative talents and undergraduate research.

The Department of Education at Eastern sponsored a trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico, this past spring semester to expose students to the different educational environments between the island and the mainland United States. The trip was led by education Professor David Stoloff as a part of his course titled "Intercultural Connections among Universities."

Each semester, students travel from Eastern Connecticut State University to study at various universities across the world. This semester, 12 students studied in Europe, South America, Asia and Australia.

Students from the Business Information Systems - Information Technology Students of America (BIS-ITSA) Club at Eastern Connecticut State University won top awards at the recent U.S. IT Collegiate Conference in Louisiana.

With the Class of 2024 recently graduated, many of Eastern's newest alumni are beginning their careers while others are choosing to continue their studies. Here are a few of the graduates pursuing advanced degree programs.

Two recent graduates from Eastern Connecticut State University each received the 2024 Henry Barnard Distinguished Student Award, the top academic honor for undergraduates in the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system. The award is given annually to 12 graduating seniors from Connecticut's four state universities.

Three Eastern Connecticut State University students were presented with awards this spring 2024 semester for their commitment to promoting equity and social justice on campus and in the community.

The Honors Program at Eastern Connecticut State University recognized 16 graduating seniors on May 11 for completing honors theses, the program's capstone requirement.

Eastern Connecticut State University inducted 16 students into the Pi Sigma Alpha honor society for political science on April 17.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual Kappa Mu Epsilon honor society induction on April 26 in the J. Eugene Smith Library.

The Department of Political Science, Philosophy and Geography at Eastern Connecticut State University inducted four students into the Phi Sigma Tau honor society for philosophy on April 25.

Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual induction for Beta Beta Beta (Tribeta), the international honor society for biology, on April 26. The ceremony inducted 11 students and recognized 13 for outstanding academic achievement.

This spring 2024 semester, 21 computer science and business information systems students from Eastern Connecticut State University were inducted into Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE), the international honor society for the computing sciences. UPE was created to promote the computing and information disciplines - computer science and business information systems - and to encourage students to contribute to academic conversations. Students inducted into the honor society must maintain a high level of academic achievement and be well versed in the various computing and information disciplines.

The women's and gender studies program at Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual Iota Iota Iota (Triota) honor society ceremony on April 19. The ceremony inducted 8 students and distributed an award for academic excellence.

The Department of World Languages at Eastern Connecticut State University inducted 2 students into the Sigma Delta Pi honor society on April 22.

Eastern Connecticut State University's Department of History recognized 13 students at its annual Phi Alpha Theta honor society ceremony on April 12. Phi Alpha Theta is an American honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history. The ceremony inducted 12 students and distributed an award for academic excellence.

The Department of Environmental Earth Science at Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual induction for the Sigma Gamma Epsilon honor society on May 2.

The Department of Health Sciences and Nursing at Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual Phi Theta Delta honor society induction on April 24.

The College of Business at Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual honor society ceremony on April 17, 2024 in the Student Center's Betty R. Tipton Room. The event included inductions for the Delta Mu Delta business honor society, Omicron Delta Epsilon economics honor society and Alpha Mu Alpha marketing honor society.

The Department of Psychological Science at Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual Psi Chi honor society induction on April 26.

The Department of Communication, Film, and Theatre at Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual honor society ceremony on April 18, 2024 in the Fine Arts Instructional Center. This year's ceremony included induction into the Lambda Pi Eta national communication honor society and Eastern's inaugural induction for the Alpha Psi Omega national theatre honor society.

The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Criminology and Social Work at Eastern Connecticut State University inducted students into three honor societies this spring 2024 semester. The induction ceremonies included the Alpha Kappa Delta sociology honor society on May 2, the Phi Alpha social work honor society on May 9, and Eastern's inaugural induction of the Alpha Phi Sigma criminal justice honor society on April 30.

Eastern Connecticut State University inducted 32 students into Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society for education. In order for an applicant to be considered, they must have higher than a 3.0 GPA and have completed a total of six hours of education courses.

Eastern Connecticut State University inducted 32 students into the Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) leadership honor society inducted 32 students on March 3. ODK is a national leadership honor society for college students who have exemplified outstanding academic conduct and active involvement in campus organizations.
