Psychology students at Eastern Connecticut State University traversed the tundra of the human psyche on a 10-day field course in Iceland this May. Sponsored by the Department of Psychological Science as part of Professor Peter Bachiochi's field course "Cross-Cultural Well-Being," the trip gave students a look at the mental health of a foreign country.

Students from a broad selection of disciplines at Eastern Connecticut State University gained valuable professional experience through internships during the spring 2024 semester. Internships ranged from live sound engineering to hospitality and criminal justice services.

The Department of Education at Eastern sponsored a trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico, this past spring semester to expose students to the different educational environments between the island and the mainland United States. The trip was led by education Professor David Stoloff as a part of his course titled "Intercultural Connections among Universities."

Each semester, students travel from Eastern Connecticut State University to study at various universities across the world. This semester, 12 students studied in Europe, South America, Asia and Australia.

Two recent graduates from Eastern Connecticut State University each received the 2024 Henry Barnard Distinguished Student Award, the top academic honor for undergraduates in the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system. Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual induction for Beta Beta Beta (Tribeta), the international honor society for biology, on April 26. The ceremony inducted 11 students and recognized 13 for outstanding academic achievement.

This spring 2024 semester, 21 computer science and business information systems students from Eastern Connecticut State University were inducted into Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE), the international honor society for the computing sciences. UPE was created to promote the computing and information disciplines - computer science and business information systems - and to encourage students to contribute to academic conversations. Students inducted into the honor society must maintain a high level of academic achievement and be well versed in the various computing and information disciplines.
