At the 24th annual E-Club Hall of Fame ceremony, Eastern Connecticut State University proudly announced the winners of the 2016-17 departmental awards.

Eastern Connecticut State University student Andrea Slater, a History and Sociology major, recently completed an internship with the Connecticut Trolley Museum in East Windsor, CT.

Because of stellar fall 2017 seasons, nine student-athletes from the men's and women's soccer teams at Eastern Connecticut State University were named to all-conference teams for the Little East Conference (LEC). A total of 48 players across the eight-team conference were selected to first and second all-conference teams.

During the week of Nov. 5, Eastern Connecticut State University student Megan Lasto of Orange,CT, received the Little East Conference (LEC) Rookie Swimmer-of-the-Week Award for the second week in a row.

Three student-athletes from Eastern Connecticut State University were named to Little East Conference (LEC) all-conference teams due to their strong performances in the fall 2017 season.

This past summer, Eastern Connecticut State University student Rachel Berkowsky studied abroad in Florence, Italy, where she attended Florence University of the Arts (FUA).

Eastern Connecticut State University swimmer Megan Lasto of Orange received the Little East Conference (LEC) Rookie Swimmer of-the-Week Award for the week of Oct. 29. This is the first award of Lasto's young career. She is a Visual Arts major.

Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer player Krista Petersen received the Little East Conference (LEC) Defensive Player-of-the-Week Award for the week of Oct. 29. This is her second selection of the year. Peterson is a Spanish major.

Three students from Eastern Connecticut State University presented at Qunnipiac University on Oct. 28 at the student conference for the Campus Compact of Southern New England. Accompanied by Sociology Professor Nicolas Simon, the Eastern group presented on the topic of engaging first-generation and underserved students in community service.

The talented musicians of Eastern Connecticut State University's Concert Band recently presented a concert in the Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC). The Eastern Concert Band is a unique blend of musicians comprised of Eastern Connecticut State University students, faculty, alumni, local music educators and talented musicians from the greater eastern Connecticut area. Performance repertoire includes classic band literature as well as challenging works from contemporary composers.

Eastern Connecticut State University offers various study abroad locations for students to choose from. This past summer, Joanna Lagasse traveled to Florence, Italy, and attended Florence University of the Arts (FUA).

Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer player Alissa Beedle received the Little East Conference (LEC) Offensive Player-of-the-Week Award for the week of Oct. 22. This is the first selection of her career.

The ever-relevant topic of immigration was on dramatic display from Oct. 11-15 when Eastern Connecticut State University premiered "Thread City," a unique performance that "told" stories of the immigrants who came to Willimantic to work in its historic thread mills. The dialogue-free play blended choreographed movement, visual projections and folky-electronic soundscapes to convey a heartfelt and historically representative tale of immigration in America.

Eastern Connecticut State University offers various study abroad locations for students to choose from. This past summer, Krista Petersen traveled to Barcelona, Spain, and attended Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB), or the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

The "Phoenix New Play Series" is an annual theatre program at Eastern Connecticut State University that takes a student-written work and adapts it into a student-directed play. On Oct. 21, McKenzie Fayne's "The Life of Dawson Radlaw" was brought to life by fellow student Onyae Randall.

Eastern Connecticut State University volleyball player Abby Stern received the Little East Conference (LEC) Rookie-of-the-Week Award for the week of Oct. 15. This is her fourth selection this year, and her second in the last three weeks.

Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer player Kayla Labreque of Westhampton, MA, received the Little East Conference (LEC) Goalkeeper-of-the-Week Award for the week of Oct. 15. This is her first selection this year, and her third in the last two seasons. Labreque is a Physical Education major.

A group of student researchers from Eastern Connecticut State University recently presented at the annual northeast conference for the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC). From Oct. 13-14, Eastern was one of eight colleges to participate in the symposium, this year located at Mansfield University in Pennsylvania.

Eastern Connecticut State University's field hockey forward, Alex Kallgren, has been selected as the only representative from the LEC to play in the 2017 National Field Hockey Coaches' Association Senior All-Star Game, sponsored by Victory Sports Tours. The three-time All-Little-East-Conference (LEC) forward, from Dudley, MA, has also set the program records for points and goals scored in a career, moving her into second place in terms of assists.

Eastern Connecticut State University student Sara Claudio, a Business Administration major and Business Information Systems minor, recently completed an internship with Aetna in Phoenix, AZ. She has been offered a full-time position with the company that will initiate after she graduates.

Abby Stern '21 is finding herself in rare company at Eastern Connecticut State University. The freshman volleyball player from Manchester has now won three Rookie-of-the-Week awards by the Little East Conference (LEC), her latest for the week of Sept. 24 - Oct. 1.

The women's field hockey team at Eastern Connecticut State University has benefitted greatly from Khiara Valentine's offseason switch from defense to offense. Her scoring ability landed her the title of Offensive Player of the Week by the Little East Conference (LEC) for the week of Oct. 2.

In pursuit of another North Atlantic title, the Eastern Connecticut State University club football team has depended heavily on defense this season. Senior Caleb Eriksen, an outside linebacker/defensive end, has anchored the unit. After an outstanding performance against the University of Hartford, Ericksen was named National Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 1.

Many Eastern Connecticut State University students participate in Eastern's clubs during the academic year. The student club programs range from social to educational, physical to spiritual and civic engagement programs that benefit and enrich the Eastern community.

Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer player Krista Petersen '18 of Wallingford received the Little East Conference (LEC) Defensive Player-of-the-Week Award for the week of Sept. 24.

On Sept. 23, Eastern Connecticut State University women's field hockey player Alex Kallgren '18 of Dudley, MA, became the program's all-time leader in career points, with a late first-half goal against Framingham State University.

Eastern Connecticut State University student Michael Beckstein '18 joined Economics Professor Brendan Cunningham this summer to work on a research project titled "The Efficient Use of Space Orbit," which was funded by the NASA Connecticut Space Grant Consortium (CTSGC).
